History of the Mojang Studios cape

Mojang became Mojang Studios in May 2020 and switched to a modular logo built from small characters it calls the Mojangs, according to Meet Mojang Studios. The staff cape caught up a year later. minecraft.wiki dates this cape to July 25, 2021, when it replaced the Mojang cape for employees.

The day after, Ined from Mojang Studios confirmed that the art team, including Johan Aronson, designed it during the rebrand, and that it went out at the same time as the Migrator cape.

It is the first Mojang staff cape that also exists on Bedrock Edition, where the Character Creator lists it as Legendary.

Mojang Studios cape FAQ

How do you get the Mojang Studios cape?

You have to work at Mojang Studios. It is the studio's employee cape, granted to staff who joined on or after July 25, 2021. There is no code, event or purchase that unlocks it, and minecraft.wiki says former employees keep it unless it is removed by hand.

Is the Mojang Studios cape on Bedrock?

Yes, it shows up on both editions. Unlike the two older Mojang staff capes, which were Java only, the Mojang Studios cape is granted on Java and in the Bedrock Character Creator, where minecraft.wiki says it carries the Legendary rarity label.

Who designed the Mojang Studios cape?

Ined, then at Mojang Studios, said the studio's art team, including Johan Aronson, designed it when the company rebranded. The cape uses the white Mojang characters from the 2020 logo on a red background.
