How crafting works
Professions, materials, the ingredient grid and what each part of a craft does.
Eight professions, fifteen kinds of item
Every crafted item belongs to one crafting profession. Each profession levels on its own from the items you make, and a recipe needs its profession at the recipe's level before you can use it.

Recipes and level brackets
Each kind of item has 48 recipes, one for every level bracket from 1–3 up to 117–119. The recipe fixes the item's base: durability for gear, health for armour, damage for weapons, duration and potency for consumables. It also names the two refined materials it takes and how many of each.
Materials and their tiers
Refined materials come from gathering (mining, woodcutting, farming and fishing) and the refinery. Every material has three tiers. A craft's base stats are multiplied by the average tier of its two materials, weighted by how many of each the recipe takes: tier 1 is ×1, tier 2 is ×1.25 and tier 3 is ×1.4.
✫ Tier 1 · ×1
✫✫ Tier 2 · ×1.25
✫✫✫ Tier 3 · ×1.4
The 3×2 ingredient grid
Up to six ingredients go into a grid of three rows and two columns. Every cell starts at 100% effectiveness, and an ingredient's stats are scaled by the effectiveness of the cell it sits in. Some ingredients change the cells around them:
Left: the cell beside it, when it sits in the right column.
Right: the cell beside it, when it sits in the left column.
Above: every cell higher up in its column.
Under: every cell lower down in its column.
Touching: the cells directly above, below and beside it.
Not touching: every other cell, including diagonals.
An ingredient never changes its own cell, so the order you place boosters and the ingredients they boost matters. A negative effectiveness flips an ingredient's identifications.
Durability, duration and charges
Gear has durability: the recipe's base, scaled by the materials, plus each ingredient's durability modifier, which is never scaled by effectiveness. Potions, scrolls and food have a duration and charges instead: the recipe's duration scaled by the materials plus each ingredient's duration, and one to three charges by level plus each ingredient's charges.
Skill requirements and powder slots
Ingredients add skill point requirements to gear, scaled by their cell's effectiveness and never below zero. Crafted weapons and armour get one powder slot below level 30, two below level 70 and three from there; accessories have none.
Attack speed
Crafted weapons let you pick slow, normal or fast attack speed. A slower weapon hits harder and a faster one hits softer, so the damage per second stays the same.
