About Crafty

Discover Minecraft Servers, Players & Skins

What is Crafty?

Crafty, usually referred to as crafty.gg, is a website that was created with the purpose of redefining the experience of the everyday Minecraft player when looking for Minecraft servers, players (or usernames), skins and a lot more.

Everything began with our Discord integration, well known as the Crafty bot. We felt that we were limited by Discord, and that we could provide so much more for the Minecraft community, so in October 2020, the Crafty team began designing and developing this very website.

Internally, this was a concept we thought of long before October 2020. As Minecraft players ourselves, we thought about how the experience of other Minecraft server listing websites could be so much better. Then we looked into other Minecraft-related websites and tools, and we thought we could definitely redefine the experience. And we started doing exactly that, packing everything into a single website: servers, skins, players (or usernames), capes, crafting and many more tools.

That's how our motto begins: Discover Minecraft Servers, Players & Skins. Or in short, discover everything Minecraft-related, packed beautifully with love into one website.

While you can count our features on your fingers, we're not done. We're looking forward to expanding our features and improving what we already have in order to provide the best experience possible.

Where our data comes from

Some of what you see on Crafty comes straight from Mojang, Hypixel or the server itself. Some is history we've recorded, and some we calculate. Here's which is which, so you know how far to trust a number.

From the source

Live
Java players
Names, UUIDs, skins and the equipped cape come from Mojang's API. Each profile shows when it was last refreshed, and the Refresh button pulls it again. If our records and Mojang disagree, Mojang wins.
Bedrock players
Gamertags and skins come from Xbox Live and Minecraft's own services.
Servers
We ping each listed server every 15 minutes for its status, player count, version and MOTD.
Hypixel and SkyBlock
Stats come from Hypixel's public API when someone opens a profile. SkyBlock profiles stay cached for about 10 minutes.
OptiFine capes
Read from OptiFine's own cape server.

Recorded over time

History
Name, skin and cape history
Every change we see when a profile is looked up goes into its timeline. A profile nobody opens for months can miss a skin worn in between.
Names before September 2022
Mojang shut down its name history API in September 2022. Older names come from an imported archive, and some of their dates are estimates.
First seen
The first time Crafty saw something, not the day it happened.

Calculated by us

Derived
Rarity and owner counts
Counted across the accounts we've seen, not every Minecraft account. Giveaway cape counts are a floor, since many more players own them than we've seen. How rarity is measured
SkyBlock networth
An estimate, priced from bazaar and auction data.
Views and upvotes
Counted from Crafty visitors. They show interest, not rarity.
