How is distance measured in Minecraft? +
Block distance is calculated using 3D Euclidean distance between two coordinate points, where each block is 1 meter.
How long does it take to walk 1000 blocks in Minecraft? +
About 3 minutes 52 seconds at default walking speed (4.317 m/s, per minecraft.wiki/w/Walking), or about 2 minutes 58 seconds sprinting (5.612 m/s, per minecraft.wiki/w/Sprinting). About 30 seconds at elytra-with-rockets cruising speed (~33.5 m/s, per minecraft.wiki/w/Elytra).
Is travel faster in the Nether? +
Yes — 1 block in the Nether equals 8 in the Overworld, so a Nether highway is 8x faster for long-distance travel.
How do I convert my coordinates to Nether coordinates? +
Divide the Overworld X and Z by 8 (multiply by 8 going the other way) and keep Y the same. The calculator above does both directions for the From and To points at once.
