History of the Builder cape

The Builder Cape was the online counterpart to the Crafter cape, which only TwitchCon Rotterdam attendees could collect. Mojang announced both in April 2026 and explained how to earn the Builder version during Minecraft Live on May 30.

The Minecraft Movie Build Challenge article, which launched a contest tied to A Minecraft Movie Squared, set the rules: watch Minecraft creators live on Twitch or TikTok from May 30 to June 14, then redeem the code by June 30. Entering the contest itself was optional.

The rollout was bumpy. Twitch ran out of codes about a day in, and players reported redemption errors on the Minecraft feedback site. According to the Minecraft Wiki, Twitch restocked on June 3.
