History of the Aurora cape

The Aurora Cape was the livestream promotion for the launch of Minecraft Dungeons II. Unlike the Hero and Twisted capes, it needed no copy of the game, and Mojang's capes article is clear that it exists only in Minecraft, not in Dungeons II.

The quest opened on September 29, 2026. According to the Minecraft Wiki, Twitch first handed it out for the general Minecraft category rather than Dungeons II, then ran short of codes. Players posted redemption trouble on the Minecraft feedback site.

The design began as a spare cape concept for Dungeons II. Mojang's Marc Watson oversaw it while two other artists adapted it, and he said at least six people worked on the design over time.

How do you get the Aurora Cape?

From September 29 to October 14, 2026, viewers watched Minecraft Dungeons II livestreams with rewards enabled, 15 minutes on Twitch or 3 minutes on TikTok. The code arrived in Twitch Inventory or TikTok notifications and was redeemed at minecraft.net/redeem. You did not need to own Dungeons II.

Can you still get the Aurora Cape?

Not anymore. The watch-time quest closed on October 14, 2026. If you already earned a code, you can still redeem it at minecraft.net/redeem until October 31, 2026, one per Microsoft account. Mojang has not announced a new way to earn it.

Is the Aurora Cape in Minecraft Dungeons II?

No. Mojang says the Aurora Cape is only for Minecraft: Java and Bedrock Edition. It does not unlock in Minecraft Dungeons II, unlike the Hero and Twisted capes.
