What each tile tells you about the answer
- Match
- Close
- Miss
- No data
- Year: when players first got the cape. Close means within two years.
- Type: account reward, promo, in-person event, staff, community or a one-off gift.
- Owners: the bracket of players wearing it. Close is one bracket away.
- Still out: whether a player can still earn it today.
Arrows point toward the answer: up is a later year or more owners.

How the daily cape works
How does Cape Daily work? +
Every day at midnight UTC there is one new Minecraft cape to name. You start with a tight crop of its front texture and get 6 guesses. Each wrong guess widens the crop and tells you how your guess compares on release year, how the cape was given out, how many players own it and whether it can still be earned.
What do the colours mean? +
Green is a match. Yellow is close: within two years, or one owner bracket away. Grey is a miss, and a dashed tile means we don't have that detail for the cape you guessed. Arrows point toward the answer: up means a later year or more owners.
Where do the owner counts come from? +
From Crafty's own cape data — the same numbers on each cape's page, counted from the players we have seen wearing it. They move a little every day, so the owner bracket is a range rather than an exact figure.
Is my streak saved? +
Your guesses, streak and stats live in this browser's local storage. There is no account involved, so clearing site data or switching devices starts you from zero.
