About Village

What the structure is, and what it's worth the trip for

Villages are the early-game jackpot — emeralds, beds, iron golems, and the entire trading economy. Most worlds spawn one within 1500 blocks of (0, 0); this tool tells you exactly where.

All five village variants (plains, desert, savanna, taiga, snowy) are detected and validated against the biome the game would place them in. Pillager outposts are not included here — the seed map shows them as a separate marker.

How it works

The placement rules this finder reproduces

Villages live on a 32-chunk × 32-chunk region grid (512 × 512 blocks). The game salts each region with the world seed and picks one candidate chunk per region; if the chunk's biome is a valid village biome, the village generates. If not, that region has no village.

The finder spirals outward from your starting coords, asking cubiomes for the candidate chunk in each region and validating the biome. The first hit is your closest village.

Tips

Getting a useful result on the first search

  • Plains villages are the most common — start with X / Z = 0 if you don't have specific coords.
  • Desert villages overlap with desert temples — pillage both at once.
  • Desert villages spawn one camel each (Java 1.20+).
  • If "no village within 12 regions", widen the search by setting different start coords.
  • Pair with the full seed map to see surrounding biomes and other structures.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask about finding this structure

How do I find a village in Minecraft? +

Villages generate in Plains, Desert, Savanna, Taiga, and Snowy Plains biomes on a 32×32-chunk region grid. Enter your world seed above and this finder returns the exact (x, z) of the nearest village without flying around.

What is the closest village to spawn? +

Set the From X / From Z fields to 0, 0 (the default world spawn area) and click Find Nearest. The result is the closest village to spawn — typically within 200 to 1500 blocks on Plains-rich seeds.

Does this village finder work for Bedrock Edition? +

v1 is Java Edition only. Bedrock uses a different RNG and structure-placement algorithm, so Java seed coordinates won't match a Bedrock world even when the seed value is identical.
