History of the Menace cape

Menace was one of three capes Mojang released for A Minecraft Movie, which reached theaters on April 4, 2025. The official account announced it on March 18, 2025, alongside its Twitch twin, the Home cape.

The deal was simple. Watch a Minecraft creator on TikTok for three minutes, get a code, redeem it. Mojang's movie event post said the design drew on the Nether portal's sense of danger, and that the cape would carry over to Java once redeemed. The claim deadline was April 6, 2025.

The third movie cape, Yearn, came from an in-game event instead of a stream. All three share the same elytra art of Jack Black's Steve.

Design

Menace cape FAQ

How do you get the Menace cape?

Between March 18 and April 6, 2025, players watched a Minecraft creator streaming on TikTok for at least three minutes. That gave a redemption code for minecraft.net/redeem, and the cape then worked on both Bedrock and Java.

Can you still get the Menace cape?

No. It was a promotion for A Minecraft Movie, and Mojang set April 6, 2025, as the deadline to claim it.
