History of the MineCon 2015 cape

There was no MINECON in 2014. Mojang had promised a European show, then said in August 2014 that work on Java Edition 1.8 had delayed it and that the convention would move to London in 2015. It ran at ExCeL London on July 4 and 5, 2015, where Mojang showed features from the Combat Update.

This cape came with a new condition. A ticket alone was not enough: attendees had to have it scanned at the venue. Mojang sent redeem links to those players on July 9, 2015, four days after the show closed, according to the Minecraft Wiki.

Console players were not left out entirely. A free Minecon 2015 skin pack for Legacy Console Edition, available July 1 to 15, 2015, gave Steve and Alex the MINECON capes, though those capes stayed locked to the pack's skins.

How do you get the MineCon 2015 cape?

You had to attend MINECON 2015 at ExCeL London and have your ticket scanned at the venue. A few days after the show, Mojang emailed scanned attendees a redeem link that added the cape to their Java account.

Can you still get the MineCon 2015 cape?

No. The cape went only to attendees whose tickets were scanned in London, and the Minecraft Wiki reports that Mojang disabled all unused MINECON cape codes on May 12, 2020. It has not been offered since.

Why was there no MineCon 2014 cape?

Mojang had said the next MINECON would be in Europe, but work on Java Edition 1.8 pushed it back. In August 2014 the company confirmed there would be no 2014 show and moved the convention to London in 2015.
