Pan-Cape

The Pan cape began life on Bedrock Edition as a placeholder texture used while building other capes, according to minecraft.wiki. Around the 1.16 update in 2020 it was handed to every Bedrock player through the Character Creator, where it is listed as The Pan Cape!

For more than five years it stayed Bedrock-only. That changed on May 8, 2025, when Java accounts received it as well, two days after the Common cape launched. On Java it goes to every account by default, including ones bought after that date.

That makes it the only cape given to every player with no known time limit. Other public capes come from limited promotions.
