Geschichte des Realms Mapmaker-Capes
Creators who make maps for Realms submit them through Atlas, and this cape is the thank-you for that work. On December 14, 2015 SethBling tweeted that there was a new Minecraft cape and that he was one of only two people with it, alongside a video about the cape for Realms contributors.
The Atlas guidelines set the bar. Each published map earns points by category, and 8 points makes a creator eligible. Up to three people can be credited per map, and nobody can be added after release. Good standing counts too, and Mojang keeps the final say.
Design
minecraft.wiki says it is based on the logo of Atlas, the portal creators use to submit Realms maps.

FAQ zum Realms Mapmaker-Cape
How do you get the Realms Mapmaker cape?
Publish maps to Java Realms through the Atlas portal. The Atlas guidelines score each published map: world templates are worth 2 points, inspiration maps 3, and minigames, experiences and adventures 4. Creators become eligible at 8 points, as a primary creator at the time of publication. Mojang still decides who gets one.
Can you still get the Realms Mapmaker cape?
Yes, the Atlas guidelines still describe it as a thank-you for creators who publish maps to Realms. It is not automatic. The team says it has no obligation to give capes, maps commissioned by Mojang don't count, and asking for a cape can make you ineligible.
