About Trail Ruins

What the structure is, and what it's worth the trip for

Trail ruins are a buried archaeology site: brush the suspicious gravel to recover pottery sherds and armor trim templates you can't get anywhere else. Enter your seed and this finder returns the nearest ruins so you don't have to stumble onto a half-buried tower by luck.

They generate mostly underground in forested biomes — taiga, snowy taiga, old-growth forests, and jungles — with only the tower cap poking above the surface.

How it works

The placement rules this finder reproduces

Trail ruins place on a region grid seeded by your world seed, only in qualifying forest chunks. The finder computes the seed-driven placement and returns the nearest ruins to your search origin; dig down from the exposed tower to reach the buried structure.

Tips

Getting a useful result on the first search

  • Use a brush on suspicious gravel — mining it destroys the artifact.
  • Excavate carefully: suspicious gravel falls like normal gravel if unsupported.
  • Trail ruins are the only source of several armor trim templates — see the trims catalog.
  • See trail ruins on the full seed map.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask about finding this structure

How do I find trail ruins? +

Enter your world seed and this finder returns the nearest trail ruins. They generate mostly underground in forested biomes — taiga, snowy taiga, old-growth spruce and birch forests, and jungles — with only the top of a tower above ground.

How do I excavate trail ruins? +

Brush the suspicious gravel scattered through the ruins with a brush. Each block yields an artifact or pottery sherd; work slowly so blocks don't fall before you brush them.

What do you get from trail ruins? +

Pottery sherds and archaeology finds, plus armor trim templates unique to trail ruins. The structure also contains mud bricks, packed mud, and coal blocks that don't generate anywhere else naturally.
