History of the Mojira Moderator cape

Mojira is the public bug tracker where players report Minecraft issues to Mojang, now at report.bugs.mojang.com. Community volunteers help moderate it, and minecraft.wiki says moderators start out as helpers.

According to minecraft.wiki, Mojang gave this cape to the moderators of the time on December 25, 2014. From May 9, 2016 it became the standard thank-you for every Mojira moderator, and people who step down keep it. The wiki files it next to the Translator and Realms Mapmaker capes as a volunteer cape.

Timeline

  1. Mojira's moderators at the time receive the cape

  2. The cape becomes the standard grant for every Mojira moderator

Mojira Moderator cape FAQ

How do you get the Mojira Moderator cape?

Become a moderator on Mojira, the public bug tracker Mojang uses for Minecraft. According to minecraft.wiki, that means helping with moderation on the tracker consistently, first as a helper and then as a moderator. The cape goes on the account directly. Asking for it is not a route in.

Can you still get the Mojira Moderator cape?

Possibly, but only through volunteer work. minecraft.wiki says every Mojira moderator has received it since May 9, 2016, and that former moderators keep it. Mojang has not published a current rule, so whether new moderators still get it is not confirmed by an official source.
